Dear Applicant,

Thank you for your interest in enrolling at Loutzavia Flight School.

Kindly take note of the following new important entry requirements at Loutzavia Flight School for the enrollment of the Private Pilots Licence.

All the requirements below to be met before enrolling and making any Payment.

Should you make a payment before the time and do not comply with the requirements your enrollment will be cancelled and no training will commence.

Payment Conditions for the PPL : A minimum Payment of R 20 000.00 up front of which

For local South African students a R 10 000.00 joining fee is charged and is not refundable under any conditions.

For foreign students, requiring a study permit, a R 20 000.00 joining fee is charged and is not refundable under any conditions and must be paid prior to receiving a visa letter.

Loutzavia is limited to the number of pilots it can enroll and train at Wonderboom Airport in a year and the R10 000.00 payment for local South African, and R 20 000.00 payment for foreign students, secures your slot at Loutzavia.

You will receive an invoice for the above non-refundable joining fee within 7 days of payment.

1. Minimum Age Requirement

Applicants must be at least 15 years old. You may begin your training with us on or after your 15th birthday.

Please note that you can only go for your first solo Flight at the Age of 16.

2. Physical Requirements

Due to the physical demands of operating an aircraft and its flying Controls , students must be capable of fully manipulating all flight controls, including full deflection of the rudder pedals. Additionally, students must be able to clearly see over the cockpit dashboard at all times and during the Flare for the Landing .

• As such, the minimum required body height , when wearing normal flat shoes is 1.6 meters.

3. Educational Qualification

A Matric certificate (or equivalent school-leaving certificate) is required if you have completed school. Please submit a certified copy of your highest school qualification and any additional diplomas or certifications you may hold.

4. English Language Proficiency

All applicants must be fluent in English in reading, writing, and speaking.

• If there is any uncertainty about your English proficiency, you may be required to complete an English Language Proficiency Test before starting your training.

Applicants will only be considered with a Minimum proficiency level of 4 out of 6.

5. Driver’s License Requirement

A valid motor vehicle driver’s license is a prerequisite for starting Private Pilot License (PPL) training.

• If you are between 17 and 18 years of age , a student driver’s license will be accepted.

• Students that have just turned 18 must obtain their full driver’s license within six months of turning 18.

• For international students, a valid driver’s license from your home country will be accepted.

6. Aptitude & Assessment

For local students, we invite you to visit our campus to complete a short written general knowledge mathematical , decision-making aptitude test.

• This helps us assess your suitability for flight training.

For students outside of South Africa or those in other provinces, a brief video call (approximately five minutes) with our Head of Training or Assistant Chief Instructor or appointed person will serve as a virtual introduction and will include a short English discussion.
